For some reason, I decided I would pull in the slides today just so I could see what it looked like with the slides in. I moved everything out of the way that needed moving, and I grabbed ahold of the dog and kept my eye on the cat and pushed the button. In came the slides. You know, there was more space inside with the slides in than I remembered from when we first moved in. It’s cramped, yes, but we can get around and still have access to nearly everything except a few drawers in the kitchen and the entertainment center in the living room. I took some pics and posted them to my Flickr if you want to take a look. I think I was inspired to do that in part because aa couple of our friends weren’t sure what the hell I was talking about when I tried to explain the slide-ins. One of our friends was asking if the RV had to have a “wide load” sign on it when it went down the road but it dawned on me she thought the whole trailer was the width of the house with the slides out. Nope, in fact, it’s only 8 feet wide and is totally road worthy.
Putting in the slides reminded me that I need to wash the exterior of this thing. I don’t think I’ll do that today as it’s a pretty big task. Maybe next weekend. But the slides come in along with all their grime. God forbid we have to pull the slides in during a rainstorm. The inside will get soaked!
I really need to have the slide-out awnings on the backside of the RV replaced. I saw the fabric for sale on eBay, so I know the parts won’t cost that much. I imagine the labor might be a bit, though. Maybe when we go to Camping World I’ll be able to get it done. I really would like the tops of the slides protected from rain and snow as much as possible, plus the toppers help to insulate just a little more, and that’s a help.
Still so many things on the wish list.
