Breakfast!!This morning MJ made breakfast for us in our trailer for the first time – waffles and bacon. Then it was my turn to wash dishes for the first time. Our agreement is that she’ll deal with the laundromat if I handle all the dishes. Doesn’t quite seem fair since dishes need to be done every day, while clothes can wait until once a week, but I don’t really mind because I despise the laundromat that much.

I’ve spent the morning writing up these offline posts (that I’ll put up once I get back to some internets tomorrow) and watching Angel on the XBox I setup last night. Somewhere in the midst of this, MJ ran off on some errands.

I setup a Pūr filter on the kitchen sink to help combat the nastiness especially since we’ve not been able to get a filter into the sump.

It was supposed to be a lazy Sunday as I prepare myself for a week full of an 8 hour work day, followed by more packing/cleaning. I’m trying to work my way through Harry and Half-Blood Prince before the film opens week after next, but Kindle has spoiled me and it sucks trying to read such a bulky heavy book. I’m really surprised and disappointed that they’ve not released Kindle versions of the series. They’re missing out on serious money because I’m sure I’m only one of millions who are more than prepared to shell out bucks again for the e-version of hard copy books we’ve already bought.

So while I lazed about watching Angel, reading Harry Potter and randomly drifting off to sleep, MJ was restless. I spent most of the afternoon on the couch, occasionally getting up as MJ needed this or that for whatever project she was working, which included replacing the weatherstripping around the door, replacing the screen for the bedroom room (yay spline!), and hanging the flamingo party lights on the awning. 10yr old Stephanie stopped by four times and on the forth MJ finally had to tell the youngster that it was okay for her to stop by once a day if she wanted to visit, see Otis or take him for a walk, but more than that was a little much.

I was on dinner duty, so I made some pork chops, cheesy grits and broccoli. On MJ’s errands she stopped at a farmer’s market and got us fresh the broccoli and also, the watermelon we ate for dessert.

And so it turns out, two days worth of using the galley sink is more than enough to fill that tank. The sink started backing up as I did the dinner dishes :( It was too late to go out there and drain it so I just left the two pots that I hadn’t gotten to yet in the sink until MJ is able to drain all the tanks tomorrow morning.

I feel the need to point out that while the dishes need to be done every day, the task only takes about 15 minutes or so while doing laundry once a week takes hours, especially when factoring in the packing up, unloading, waiting on machines to finish, folding, loading back into the car, going back home, unloading, and putting clothes away. At the most, you’re spending 2 hours a week doing dishes while I’ll be spending at least 4 hours doing the wash. It’s a trade-off–frequency versus time intensiveness. Still, my hands thank you for doing the dishes.
