Or is it Day 1?

We both had a little trouble getting to sleep last night because Chesaco was delivering our little Cedar Creek this morning at 9am.

MJ got up early to go fill her car with gas and grab us some breakfast, and once I finally got up, we loaded up my truck and were on our way in our separate cars. I’d planned to stop at the bank on the way since it was only 8ish, so plenty of time, right? Nope, when I turned the corner onto our street, I saw our big blue beast being backed up into the spot.

DeliveryApparently, the delivery guy showed up about 40 minutes early. Thankfully, the property caretaker was on hand to show him how to back into the spot because the plots aren’t paved or marked off so neither MJ nor I had a clue. He dropped the front jacks, unhitched his truck and left us to figure out the rest – “installation” was not included in delivery – which we knew, but it was still a little overwhelming.

We grabbed the Lynx levelers and set about trying to get the bubbles in the gauges to line up. To no avail. She’s still sitting a little crooked as I type this a full fifteen hours later. I think we need to go back and research the methodology in getting 14,000 lbs. of fiberglass, wood and metal to sit properly. After putzing around with that for about 10-15 minutes, I immediately left for the drugstore to buy bug spray for the power hookup that was covered in ants, cortizone and bug repellent.

HookupsIf I hadn’t mentioned it here before our site is right on Bear Creek just off the Chesapeake Bay. View of the MarinaAnd so, mosquitoes galore. For most people mosquito bites range somewhere between minor annoyance and extreme annoyance. I fall into the latter. When I get bit, the welts get ginormous and while the swelling goes down over a day or two, it itches the same as the first day I got it for up well over a week and I’ve had plenty that itched for a minimum of two weeks.

When I returned, MJ had extended the slide-outs and we were ready to move on to the sewage and water, which was pretty easy to figure out, but check back again in a few days when we dump for the first time…

Awning Voila!A 10 yr old neighborhood girl, Stephanie, came to see what was going on and ended up helping us with the awning – the right side of it got stuck so we had to drag a picnic bench over for me climb up and get it unstuck. Not the most graceful awning installation ever, but we got it done.

I had only taken a couple hours off work so I had to head back, while MJ unpacked what she could with the assistance of the quite helpful (if a little pesky) Stephanie before she was needed at the writing lab on campus. MJ caught up with me back at the apartment around 6:30 so we grabbed some dinner, loaded up MJ’s car along with the dog and cat and came to spend the night at Big Blue (she needs a name I think, so I’m trying that out. Not sure I like it, but it’ll do for now). On our way over, a wonderful thunderstorm began with a heavy downpour bonus. I think it’s meant to rain some or all of this coming weekend. Awesome. MJ was quite thankful for the awning during that unloading.

I plugged my iPhone into the trailer’s surround sound system and set about unpacking my clothes though there are still some back at the apt. After that, we setup the two TVs with the digital converters, and now we’re both relaxing in the “living room”, me on the couch, MJ in the recliner that she’s now decided to keep rather than sell/trash.

Otis is curled up on his little bed next the recliner after initially being a little freaked out about the change. Upon being released from her little travel crate-thingy, Mo(tor) the cat immediately found a little nook between the bed and wall where she stayed during all the all unpacking ruckus. Only now that we’ve settled has she begun to poke her head out. She comes down out the bedroom, sniffs a little around the living area and then runs back up into the bedroom. I’m hoping she uses the litter box she briefly sniffed at on one of her excursions into this area…it’s a temporary setup until we find the best place for it – in a lower cabinet or something.

It’s now 12:30 and I need to get to bed so that I can commute back to the apartment for work. Comcast has yet to install the cable box out here. I’m expecting to hear about that within the next week or so, until then the commute.
