I have to call the dealer to set up the move and the demo.  Going to do that today.  When I call the dealership, I need to remember to ask them about the key situation.  They gave us the keys but they still have to prep the trailer for delivery.    Need to check with the trailer park and find out if there is any other paperwork I need to sign when I pay the rent (that would mean a drive to Laurel on the 26th) and I need to figure out which of the three spots we’re getting so I can sort things out with the post office.

We’ve planned a little trailerwarming party, and I’ve decided I’m going full camp on the party.  That’s “camp” as in corny and kitschy, not as in tenty pitchy (though I suppose that’s relevant here, too). The theme of the party is pink flamingos.  I’m draping the entire place in them.  We’re having the party on a Saturday afternoon in July, and as it will be mostly an outside affair, it will be hot…damned hot. Since we’re down by the water, Lex is counting on the heat of the day to eliminate some of the mosquito issue.   I’m asking everyone to bring  lawn chairs and their own coolers stocked with their own bevvies.  We’re just having burgers and hot dogs and the fixings.  I’m planning some fun little games, and I’ve got some neat door prizes.

Lex is wondering if her uncles will follow through on their promise/threat to buy her a twelve guage shotgun as a housewarming gift.  God, I hope not.  I’m sure we’ll be driving through all sorts of podunk jurisdictions on our travels that would love nothing more than to pull over an interracial lesbian couple packing heat and drag them off to the local pokey.  I’m rather hoping for cash or fuel cards instead.

We did make a bit more progress on the packing front this weekend.  I went through the bathroom and culled some stuff out, packed the rest.  I had a surprisingly hard time throwing stuff out of the bathroom.  No sentimental value.  Just a lot of dollars worth of OTC meds.  I’ll find someplace to keep that stuff rather than throw it away.  Lex also went through her stuff a bit more and came up with a garbage bag full of stuff for Goodwill.  I did the same. At this point, what we have left to sell is either spoken for already or can’t really be sold until we move out of here.  I do have a DVD/VCR and a Dremel tool up for sale on Craigslist.  That’s about it for now.  Today, a woman is coming to pick up all the Sterilite cabinets and another is coming to pick up a wire shelving unit.  I still have to go through a couple of boxes of old notebooks and figure out what’s worth keeping and what isn’t.

We’ve both cleaned out our closets, the bedroom is about as packed up as it can be, bathroom and linen closet are done, hall closet is done, dining and living room are pretty much done.  I even cleaned out my desk (sort of).  I culled out the kitchen and the utility room, too.  The big remaining task is Lex’s office.  I need to go through the filing cabinets and take care of my own stuff, and Lex has to deal with the rest of it.  Again, a lot of that won’t get done until we’re ready to actually relocate Lex’s office, something that will have to be done over the course of a weekend.  We still need to figure out what to use for a desk for her, but I think we’ll wait until we take possession of the trailer to measure the space before we buy anything.  I should clarify that when I say “done,” I don’t necessarily mean packed. I mean it’s been gone through, and stuff has either been thrown away, donated, sold, or kept.  Whatever’s left is what will need packing.  I so wish we had the hitch so we could drive the trailer right up to the parking lot and just carry things out the door and put it in the house. As it is, we’ll have to actually put it in a box, throw it in the back of the truck, drive the 9 miles to Dundalk, unload it off the truck, and THEN put it in the trailer.  Ah, well…at least there won’t be nearly as much of it as when we last moved.
